Partner wellness combining acro yoga, Thai massage, and dance on massage tables.
Kama Flight Foundation teaches something you probably haven't tried before. They call it "meditation in motion," and that's a fair description: pairs of people move together on massage tables, guided through a blend of acro yoga, Thai massage, and partner dance. It looks strange. It also looks like the people doing it are having a genuinely good time.
The practice is called Kama Flight. Classes run with two certified teachers guiding participants through foundational moves. You grab a partner (a friend works fine, you don't need to bring a romantic partner) and learn to give and receive weight, pressure, and movement on a massage table. The foundation draws on neuroscience around play and connection, and frames the whole thing as "partner wellness," a category they're more or less inventing as they go.
What makes Kama Flight different from a standard acro yoga class is the massage table and the Thai massage element. You're not balancing on someone's feet in a park. The table changes everything. It's closer to bodywork than acrobatics, though there's a real physical element involved. Participants need to be reasonably free from injury and comfortable with touch. The dress code asks for athletic clothes that cover your body, no tank tops or shorts.
The Austin-based foundation offers both workshops and regular classes. Kama Floor Workshops focus on ground-based work, while Kama Flight classes move onto the table. No prior experience is required for either. They pitch it as something you can walk into cold, which is unusual for anything involving acro yoga. Most acro communities assume you'll spend months learning basics before you get to the interesting stuff. Kama Flight skips that gatekeeping.
Their language leans earnest and warm. They talk about "the power of relationships to create a closer, more vital world" and "relational flow," and they mean it without irony. The vibe reads less like a fitness brand and more like a small group of people who found something weird and specific that works for them and want to share it. Their Instagram (@kamaflight) is the best way to see what a session actually looks like, since the concept is hard to picture from words alone.
Kama Flight Foundation is building a practice that doesn't fit neatly into existing categories. Not yoga, not massage, not dance, but pieces of all three done with a partner on a table.
