About Sororal Mounds:
Created from reclaimed materials such as palm fronds, concrete, loam, and clay, Sororal Mounds invites you to experience the power of communal healing and the enduring strength of women who gather, support, and uplift one another in the face of adversity. Whether seen as ruins or exaltations, these sculptural forms reflect how women and survivors remain defiantly connected within a world that often seeks to divide them.
From the Artist:
βOver the past decade working as a lead storyteller with FERAL, Iβve had the privilege of growing in creative partnership and sisterhood with its founder, Laverne Delgado, as she has cultivated spaces where women gather to grieve, heal, and reclaim their power. This installation emerges from that shared history and acts as an offering intended to amplify her voice and the voices of the women FERAL serves, drawing on the primal energy of feminine communality that has shaped the spaces weβve created together.
The work reflects the presence, balance, and necessary confrontation that sacred sisterhood invites in a world that so often isolates women from one another through patriarchal control. As a man working alongside this organization, I approach this project with humility and an obligation to oppose those systems alongside my sisters.β
