Kirtan is an ancient bhakti yoga practice using mantra and music as an expression of devotion and prayer. The literal translation of kirtan is "to praise.β Kirtan is described as a "jewel of a spiritual practice" because of its joyful, open-hearted, meditative, and communal feeling.
For the new people to kirtan/chanting, just bring yourself, no special clothes or yoga mat needed.
BIO for Govind Das:
Govind Das is is a kirtan leader and teacher in the path of Bhakti Yoga. His inspiring kirtan and teachings encourage the opening of the heart and developing a personal and intimate connection with Source. He believes that ancient practice of kirtan is a great tool in our modern age to heal humanity because chanting together fosters the spirit of love, unity and connection.
He leads programs of kirtan, bhakti yoga workshops, and transformational retreats throughout the world. His celebrated kirtan album, "Lunar Mantras" spent many weeks at #2 on the itunes World Music chart. His latest single on Spotify is called βNectar of Love Mahamantraβ
