Rest as a Creative Practice
A wellness session for creatives with Emary Alicea
Make room for a slower Sunday morning. Join us at Quimera Gallery in East Austin for coffee, tea, and printmaking, with time to reflect and connect with fellow creatives.
Presented as part of Waking Dream, this intimate session invites you to consider your relationship to rest and how you might welcome more of it into your everyday life.
We’ll begin with a 20-minute exhibition tour led by the curators, followed by a workshop with Emary Alicea. Through guided breathwork, journaling, and conversation, we’ll explore seven forms of rest, with a focus on creative rest. The rituals of preparing and sharing coffee and tea will offer a starting point for slowing down together.
Then, we’ll experiment with cyanotype and turmeric sun printing, making space for curiosity without the pressure to create something perfect.
What replenishes you? What leaves you feeling depleted? What would it look like to give yourself permission to pause? These questions will guide our morning of reflection and making, surrounded by contemporary art.
