The OYOU hosts a variety of free and ticketed events and workshops. Our mission also serves more than just the participants at our events and programs. At OYOU we hire artists and musicians to lead workshops or perform at our community concerts; providing them with additional income and more importantly a format in which to inspire and teach. By providing a modest stipend, we can give back to the artist community by providing a means to support it.Some of our workshop leaders have been affected by neurological conditions, cancer, depression, and other health challenges. They have found a role in mentoring students with similar health conditions and inspiring others to rise above their challenges so that they, too, can embrace and enjoy a higher quality of life.In addition, the OYOU provides scholarships for every program offered, allowing those who would otherwise be unable to afford tuition to attend and learn. Scholarships are offered based on financial need and for teachers, veterans, special needs students, and patients who are suffering from medical conditions. The OYOU also has scholarships available for our children's music camp and kid's club, so that children in need can attend for free. The OYOU creates a welcoming, non-judgmental backdrop that celebrates diversity through the creative arts. Our events help fill a void for arts based education that is increasingly absent in budget-strapped public schools. Our events also offer lifelong learning opportunities for adults and senior citizens. In order to serve our mission to the fullest extent, the OYOU is continuing to expand programming to positively impact as many lives as possible in Central Texas.

11th Annual OYOU Women's Retreat

Ultimate mind, body, and spirit gal-pal getaway! This year's theme is "Wabi-sabi" — Embracing Imperfection and Transience.

Join Us for Our 11th Annual Women's Retreat: A Sanctuary for Connection and Renewal

February 21st @ 4:00 p.m - February 23rd @ 2:00 p.m. 2025

This Year's Theme: Wabi-sabi

Ticket price includes meals, supplies, non-alcoholic beverages, snacks, and workshops.

"Developed out of the aesthetic philosophy of cha-no-yu (the tea ceremony) in fifteenth-century Japan, wabi-sabi is an aesthetic that finds beauty in things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. Taken from the Japanese words wabi, which translates to less is more, and sabi, which means attentive melancholy, wabi-sabi refers to an awareness of the transient nature of earthly things and a corresponding pleasure in the things that bear the mark of this impermanence." — Carnegie Library

This year, we'll immerse ourselves into the philosophy of wabi-sabi — so that a transformation of body, mind, and spirit can emerge.

Our women's retreats provide a much-needed refuge for women and their friends seeking a break from the daily grind. We welcome women from all walks of life, including those who are currently facing or have overcome cancer, as well as caregivers, teachers, nurses, and social workers. Our retreats foster a safe, open, and non-judgmental environment where participants can fully engage in a variety of enriching activities.

Through relaxing arts and crafts, journaling workshops, and song circles, women are encouraged to tap into their creativity and find empowerment in their shared experiences. These retreats serve as a vital source of rejuvenation for the body, mind, and spirit, allowing each individual to embark on a journey toward healing and well-being in a nurturing atmosphere.

Each year, generous sponsors—whether individuals or businesses—help send loved ones, colleagues, or friends to our retreats at no cost. We take pride in offering these transformative experiences at a significantly reduced rate—approximately 75% less than similar events—made possible through the kindness of supporters like you! Consider sponsoring a woman to attend, or if you’re looking for a refreshing getaway, we invite you to join us. If you decide to attend, expect a laid-back atmosphere filled with kindred spirits, where you can unwind and connect.

Please note: This retreat is a women-only event—no children, men, pets, or other creatures (including alligators, tadpoles, and kangaroos). This is a BYOB event.

For our itinerary and additional information, please reach out to us! We look forward to welcoming you to a weekend of relaxation and rejuvenation!
